La Face cachée du violoncelle explore un coté plus méconnu du violoncelle, en contraste avec l’idée romantique qui lui est rattaché. En imaginant le son du violoncelle, en général, le Cygne de Saint-Saëns et le concerto de Dvorak sont les pièces qui viennent a l’esprit. Le concert aujourd’hui couvre plutôt la période baroque, classique et moderne, avec la présentation de l’évolution du violoncelle. La Suite de Bach no.5 sera interprétée sur un violoncelle baroque alors que les deux autres œuvres seront jouées sur un violoncelle de type moderne.

The Hidden Face of the Cello explores a more unknown side of the cello, in contrast to the romantic idea attached to it. In imagining the sound of the cello, usually the Swan of Saint-Saëns and the concerto of Dvorak are the pieces that come to mind. The concert today covers rather the baroque period, classical and modern, with the presentation of the evolution of the cello. The No.5 Bach Suite will be performed on a Baroque cello while the other two works will be performed on a modern cello.
