The harpist Valérie Milot’s Nebulæ offers an artistic and philosophical reflection inspired by the science of astral phenomena.
The harp becomes a witness to humanity’s evolution and its relationship with the universe. From the primitive lyre — evoked here as a constellation — to the modern harp, transformed into a complex instrument of boundless possibilities, a parallel unfolds between the evolution of art and that of science.
Human beings develop ever more sophisticated tools to express what defines them: their capacity for artistic expression and scientific understanding. Like the refined harp, today’s powerful telescopes serve as instruments for probing deeper into human consciousness and pushing existential questions further. This vast and awe-inspiring journey invites reflection on our place in the universe. Ultimately, humanity adopts a more humble stance — becoming autonomous, moving beyond myth and religion, recognizing the poetry within science, and embracing a measure of the unknown.
This intimate concert, infused with reflection, humor, and captivating music, will create a meaningful connection between the artist and the audience. The performance will also feature a distinctive visual environment created by Quebec artisans and artists.
Valérie Milot has been a member of the Orford Music Academy faculty for the past two years.
