Montreal, March 19, 2025 – To celebrate International Jazz Day, Divertissement Mercier and co-producer Martine Labbé are partnering with the Lion d’Or Cabaret to present a memorable evening on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 8:00 PM.

Since 2015, Divertissement Mercier has made this event a must-see in Montreal, once again highlighting influential women in jazz in 2026.

This edition will feature the full concert launch of Valérie Lacombe’s debut album, State of Garden and Shadow. The entire album repertoire will be performed. The process of cultivation and growth reflected in the title State of Garden and Shadow marks an important milestone in Lacombe’s career and holds special significance, as it showcases original compositions developed during her Master’s studies at McGill University under the attentive guidance of Kevin Dean and Darrell Green. She will be joined by special guest performers.

This event is a tribute to female creativity in the world of jazz, promising an evening filled with passion and emotion, while also marking a defining moment in Lacombe’s career. Don’t miss this exceptional celebration!

Divertissement Mercier organizes unique artistic events that promote diversity in jazz and support local talent. Alain Mercier, the organization’s artistic director, has been leading Quebec’s International Jazz Day initiative since 2015. About Martine Labbé:
Trumpeter and composer Martine Labbé is a rising figure in Quebec’s jazz scene, recognized for her creativity and musical innovation, currently residing in Morocco. Since the beginning of her career, she has been involved in event production and management, first in Montreal’s jazz scene and later in Morocco through 3ZEM prod, a structure she co-founded.

About Valérie Lacombe:
Valérie is a Montreal-based jazz drummer and composer whose work focuses on original music for a quartet without harmonic instruments. Her debut album, State of Garden and Shadow, will be released on April 17, 2026, and features Camille Thurman on tenor saxophone, Caoilainn Power on alto saxophone, and Ira Coleman on double bass.
