HausMusique

“[Our] goal with the 9e Musique@17h HausMusique series [presented at the new performing arts space on the Montreal Eaton Centre’s iconic Art Deco ninth floor 9e Grande Salle], is to feature programs with thoughtful combinations of repertoire and unique musical collaborations, keeping the duration to one hour in length,” says cellist and Co-Artistic Director Cameron Crozman. The HausMusique series features well-known and complex works performed at the landmark Art Deco heritage venue.

In the concert of the 9e Musique@17h HausMusique series,  Beethoven’s symphonies will be heard for the first time at Le 9e (Nov. 4). In collaboration with Orchestre de l’Agora, HausMusique will perform Beethoven’s Archduke Trio, Symphony No. 3 “Eroica” and Symphony No. 5, as well as Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24. On Jan. 6, pianist Ilya Poletaev and flutist Ariane Brisson present Mythologies, a concert where the stories of Pan and Prometheus are told through music composed by Beethoven, Debussy, and Medtner.

“For our final two concerts of the season, Meagan [Milatz] and I get to share the stage with two of our Canadian musical idols,” says Crozman. On April 7, the duo will be joined by award-winning clarinetist James Campbell for Brahms and Beethoven’s clarinet trios. In their final concert, Crozman and Milatz will perform alongside Andrew Wan, concertmaster of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra (June 2). The program will feature Ravel’s Piano Trio.

With this series, Crozman says that he and Milatz want to “create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for [their]audience” and bring the audience closer to the music by telling the pieces’ stories.

ArtChoral

9e Musique@17h ArtChoral series will present several vocal chamber music concerts at Le 9e Grande Salle. “This combination of classical music and Art Deco has created a winning formula for the many  Montrealers working downtown who want to enjoy classical music after they finish at the office,” says Artistic Director Janelle Lucyk. “Like a musical cinq à sept.”

On Dec. 2, 9e Musique@17h ArtChoral professional singers Janelle Lucyk, Rosalie Lane Lépine, William Kraushaar, and Kerry Bursey revisit works from the album Art Choral, Vol. 7: Noël,  including other seasonal favourites. In the new year, the singers will perform pieces from the new ATMA album ArtChoral Vol. 8: Hallelujah, which spotlights Jewish songs passed down across continents and through centuries. Their final concert of the 2025-26 season is Ménestrel, a concert that will feature works from their new Leaf Music album Ménestrel including folk songs, Renaissance and baroque music (March 3).

“For me, I have an immense sense of pride that the 9e Musique@17h ArtChoral concerts can offer audiences a rare opportunity to hear professional a capella singing while immersed in a setting as sublime and unparalleled as Le 9e Grande Salle,” says Lucyk.

Musique 3 Femmes

The 9e Musique@17h OpéraM3F series, presented at the new performing arts space on the Montreal Eaton Centre’s iconic Art Deco ninth floor 9e Grande Salle, marks an exciting chapter for Musique 3 Femmes. “By blending excerpts from classic operas with new works developed through our creation programs, we are introducing broader publics to the vibrancy of contemporary opera in an inspiring, accessible setting,” says Kristin Hoff, Musique3Femmes’s co-founder as well as its artistic and general director.

On Oct. 21, OpéraM3F performed excerpts from Carmen, alongside new scenes created at their Opera Creation Forum. Featured artists included mezzo-soprano Kristin Hoff, soprano Ellen Wieser, tenor Mishael Eusebio, baritone Bruno Roy, and pianist Rebecca Klassen-Wiebe. During the holiday season, the group, which includes several singers who are also mothers, will perform beloved Christmas songs in OpéraM3F – Mère-Noël (Dec. 16).

On Feb. 17, OpéraM3F presents soprano Sharon Azrieli in a musical revue, Sharon!, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Warren Carlyle. This show blends opera, Broadway, and Jewish music to humorously trace Azrieli’s musical life. OpéraM3F’s penultimate concert OpéraM3F – Jazz (April 28) is a collaboration with Festival de la Voix, presenting the Chad Linsley trio with vocalist David Marino, who will sing timeless jazz standards. On June 16 OpéraM3F – Broadway presents a program of popular Broadway songs performed by Hoff and soprano Suzanne Rigden, accompanied by pianist Klassen-Wiebe.

“For a company like Musique3Femmes whose work often unfolds behind closed doors in workshops and development labs, the 9e Musique@17h OpéraM3F series provides vital visibility and helps us build a devoted audience for the voices and stories we champion,” says Hoff.
