In this concert entitled Les amours et la vie d’une femme, Elisabeth St-Gelais, accompanied by the pianist Louise Pelletier, will interpret works including Schumann. Innue from the community of Pessamit, Elisabeth attaches great importance to sharing her culture through her mission as an artist. Elisabeth St-Gelais is the grand winner of McGill University’s prestigious Wirth Vocal Prize in March 2022, of the Grand Prix 19-30 years at the Canimex Canada Music Competition in June 2022 and she is named the same year in the prestigious #CBC30under30 list 2022 where she stands out as a prominent indigenous lyric artist under the 30-year bar. She is the winner of the First Prize 26-30 years at the Classival Festival in April 2023. Elisabeth St-Gelais wins the Prix d’Europe 2023 on 11 June of that year at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and is the winner of the First Prize and the Public’s Choice in the annual competition of the Canadian Opera Company, CentreStage Competition edition 2023. In November 2023 she is the winner of the District Western Canada as well as NORTHWEST Regionals Encouragement Award Winner in the MET OPERA LAFFONT COMPETITION. Also involved in her Montreal musical community, the soprano has been appointed to the board of directors of the Conseil Québécois de la Musique since April 2023. The soprano will perform throughout Canada with invitations from the Canadian Opera Company, the Agora Orchestra and the Orchestre symphonique des Jeunes de Montréal, the I MUSICI orchestra, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the Orchestre Symphonique de la Côte-d’IvoireNord, the Orchestre Classique de Montréal, the Toronto Summer Music Festival, Cecilia Concerts, the Festival d’opéra de Québec and more. Elisabeth is an Indigenous artist committed to the reconciliation of Canada’s Indigenous peoples and is a proud representative of the nation.
