Montreal, May 31, 2025 — The Colombian baritone Laureano Quant has been awarded the Art Song Prize of the Voice 2025 edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM). Offered in partnership with the Nawacki Family Foundation, this $10,000 prize recognizes the artist who delivered the most outstanding performance in the First Round-Art Song and in the Art Song Prize Final.
The Final of this special prize dedicated to Art Song was buoyed by performances of rare intensity from the five Art Song prize finalists. The winner was announced by the president of the Voice 2025 international jury, Canadian soprano Adrianne Pieczonka.
Special Prize Winners
The Concours also awarded two special prizes.
The Salle Bourgie Schubert Prize, offered in partnership with Salle Bourgie, was awarded to the baritone Laureano Quant. This prestigious prize comes with an engagement to perform a recital as part of the venue’s ambitious complete cycle of Franz Schubert’s lieder, a large-scale project paying tribute to one of the greatest masters of the genre.
Ihor Mostovoi was awarded the André-Bachand Award for the Best performance of a Canadian work, offered in partnership with Claudette Hould. It was Ihor’s interpretation of Mon Souverain by Julien Bilodeau that won over the jury. With this award, the CMIM underlines the importance of contemporary Canadian music. Heading to the Semifinal
The Semifinal, taking place over two evenings, June 3 and 4, will be held at Maison symphonique de Montréal where the competitors will perform with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the official orchestra of the CMIM. See the performance order and full schedule on the CMIM website.

- Fleuranne Brockway, Mezzo-soprano, Australia
- Theodore Platt, Baritone, United-Kingdom
- Julia Muzychenko-Greenhalgh, Soprano, Russia
- Ariane Cossette, Soprano, Canada
- Yewon Han, Soprano, South Korea
The ten semifinalists will each present a program consisting of three arias, highlighting their vocal and stylistic versatility. This program must include one aria from the oratorio repertoire and two works drawn from the opera or orchestral repertoire, sung in at least two different languages.
At the conclusion of this critical round, the jury will select five singers to advance to the Grand Final.

Audience members can also vote now for their favourite competitor, either in person or online via the Concours’s website. The winner of the ICI Musique Audience Choice Award will be announced at the Grand Final on June 6.
