There is Emma, a woman in her early thirties, who left without leaving a trace. There are her relatives, grappling with the consequences of his absence and this irrepressible need to imagine it so as not to forget it. There is the girl who grows up without her mother, the grandmother never known, the mother, the father, the spouse, the friends and the noise of the people who seek to define us, robbing us of both our particularity and our mystery.
Who has not dreamed of disappearing, even for a moment? To evaporate? To escape from an identity and what others project? In Japan, some 100,000 people disappear each year through specialized agencies. Inspired by this disturbing reality and skilfully weaving different dramaturgical approaches, the author Rébecca Déraspe explores the many faces of our confinement and the radicality of certain possibilities of escape.
