Colorful and intensely passionate:
a grand concert will mark the beginning of the season next September 7

Montreal, august 19 2019 – To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the chamber music ensemble Musica Camerata Montréal will offer four memorable evenings between September 2019 and May 2020. These exceptional events will take place at 6 PM at La Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur, located at 100 Sherbrooke East in Montreal.

To open the season the well renowned group – hailed as one of Canada’s foremost chamber music ensembles in the country – will present on September 7th a program featuring the clarinet as the principal figure. For the occasion the guest will be the Montreal born young clarinetist Eric Abramovitz, principal clarinet of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.  His partners for the occasion will be Berta Rosenohl (piano), Luis Grinhauz and Van Armenian (violins), Sofia Gentile (viola) and Sylvain Murray (cello).

The program will consist of melodic, romantic, exuberant and unforgettable works.

To start the concert the Pieces for clarinet, viola and piano op.83 by the German composer Max Bruch will open the evening followed by the Sonata for clarinet and piano by the Argentinian composer Carlos Guastavino.  As a world première and honoring the Argentinian Community and the General Consulate of Argentina, represented by Mme. Fabiana Loguzzo,  Consul General of the Argentine Republic,  the musicians will perform a work commissioned for the occasion and composed by the Argentinian pianist and composer Juan Carlos Cirigliano: «Postales de Buenos Aires» based on well- known tangos such as «Inspiracion», «La Bordona», «Malena»  and «Danzarin» for violin and piano.

This magical evening will end with the Quintet «Souvenir du voyage» for clarinet and string quartet by the American composer Bernard Herrmann, known for his music in Alfred Hitchcock films.

The other concerts in this special anniversary celebration will be:

  • November 16th «Three Trios» by Beethoven, Chausson and Schumann
  • April 4th «Romanticism of the XIX century«Mahler, Chopin and Richard Strauss»
  • May 9th «Russian Piano Quintets» plus Beethoven: Alexander Borodin, Beethoven and Nikolai Medtner

The price for a subscription to 4 concerts is $130 for adults and $85 for seniors and students. Individual tickets are $40.- for adults and $30 for seniors and students.
