Montréal, Thursday, June 8, 2017 – This coming August 19 at 9 p.m., at the heart of the official events for Montréal’s 375th anniversary celebrations will be Montréal Symphonique. For the very first time ever, this free show will bring together three of Montréal’s most prestigious symphony orchestras on the same stage. Joining these illustrious ensembles will be a number of pop artists who promise to touch spectators’ hearts and souls as they offer music and art lovers a unique, accessible and memorable evening of music.

Under the musical direction of conductor Simon Leclerc, based on an original idea by Nicolas Lemieux, and produced by GSI Musique, this major 375th anniversary performance will take place at the foot of Mount Royal. The stage will come alive during an evening that features the seasons and their colourful tableaux as its theme. Joining the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre Métropolitain as well as the McGill Symphony Orchestra onstage will be 350 musicians, singers and choir members to celebrate this unforgettable moment with a continuous, host-free two-hour concert. Not only will the event showcase different musical styles and artists from a wide range of backgrounds, but it will reflect the dynamism of our city. Montrealers and everyone who loves our city are invited to be part of this major celebration for the people.

In addition to the three orchestras, the artistic diversity and the symbolism of the site, the highlight of the show will be the five seasons, a concept that is intended to elicit an array of emotions from the audience as they travel through time. The fifth season will represent the imaginary and an invitation to seek out new discoveries and happiness. Rounding this out will be a scenography designed by the Normal Studio team. Specializing in creating unique ambiances, it will transport the audience through the changing climates and a whirlwind of emotions over the course of the evening.

On August 19, everyone is invited along with their family or friends because Montréal will be as exciting as it is symphonic!
