Quebec City, May 20, 2021 – The Les Violons du Roy Benefit Gala, presented by Radio-Canada and under the direction of Bernard Labadie, will welcome one of Canada’s leading singers on the international scene, bass baritone Philippe Sly. He will join the orchestra to perform some of the most beautiful arias by Bach and Handel. This spectacular event will also feature flutist Ariane Brisson in J.S. Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B Minor (BWV 1067) and trumpet player Benjamin Raymond in an excerpt of J.S. Bach’s Cantata Es reißet euch ein schrecklich Ende (BWV 90). The Web rebroadcast of the Benefit Gala with Philippe Sly will be available for viewing from 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, to 11 p.m. on Sunday, June 20.

Every year, the Benefit Gala is the biggest fundraising event of the season for Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec. And this year’s edition will be very special: The gala will be broadcast online for free in honor of our healthcare workers. We are delighted to pay tribute to their outstanding commitment to the fight against COVID-19 by giving some 140 healthcare workers from CHU de Québec free tickets to attend the Benefit Gala in person at Palais Montcalm – Maison de la musique’s Raoul-Jobin Hall on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 7 p.m.

Proceeds from the Benefit Gala and online auction will allow Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec to pursue their mission of presenting audiences with outstanding musical experiences, building on their international reputation, and giving back to the community.

An online auction will be held in conjunction with the gala, and the public will be invited to participate from June 3 to 20, 2021. Full details will be posted online at www.violonsduroy.com
