  • POSITION TITLE: Azrieli Music Prizes Coordinator
  • STATUS: Full Time, permanent
  • REPORTS TO: Manager – Music, Arts and Cultural (MAC) Initiatives
  • INTERFACES WITH: Prize Laureates, Azrieli Music Prizes Advisory Council, Communications Team, and a broad range of program partners, service contractors and key stakeholders across Canada and internationally
  • LOCATION: This position is based in the Azrieli Foundation’s Montréal office, with occasional travel to the Toronto office. International travel may be required from time to time.
  • DEADLINE: May 14 or until the position is filled

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Azrieli Music Prizes (AMP) Coordinator is the primary point of contact and principal administrator of the biennial Azrieli Music Prizes program – Canada’s largest competition devoted to music composition. The Coordinator is responsible for harmonizing the partners, plans and resources required to efficiently and effectively realize AMP’s core activities. The Coordinator is also responsible for identifying, activating and engaging a dynamic community around AMP; and for ensuring that the program’s plans and activities are fully integrated with the mission, vision and values of the Azrieli Foundation.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Coordination:

  • Develop and implement the biennial AMP program plan – including detailed activity plans, timetables and deliverables
  • In collaboration with the MAC Manager, develop the biennial AMP program budget and ensure that the program operates within approved parameters
  • Administer all program activities, including scheduling, logistics, resource requirements and interactive elements 

Research / Planning / Reporting:

  • Stay aware of changes and developments in the classical music sector and share learnings with relevant groups
  • Network with cross-sector contacts to keep current on emerging trends, issues, technologies and capabilities, ensuring that AMP is planned and executed using the most current information, knowledge and practices
  • Consult regularly with the MAC Manager, Foundation staff and key partners to ensure AMP plans are meeting program requirements 
  • Support the Chair of the Advisory Council in convening and running Council meetings: schedule meeting dates, create agendas, supply all relevant support materials, create the meeting minutes, follow up on actions and incorporate advice into adjusted AMP plans 
  • Monitor for ongoing program effectiveness and relevancy
  • Develop and implement methods for collecting community feedback to identify program improvement areas 
  • Deliver draft program plans that incorporate improvements while also setting and actualizing annual program goals
  • Prepare project reports in accordance with AMP and Foundation timelines

Communications / Community Engagement:

  • Collaborate with the Communications Team, as well as publicity and graphic design providers, to develop and deliver the AMP communications plan
  • Act as key point of contact with Prize Laureates, the Advisory Council, program partners, service contractors and the public 
  • Identify and network with individuals, organizations, and institutions to increase visibility of AMP in existing and new markets 

Program Alignment and Advocacy:

  • In collaboration with MAC Manager, ensure that AMP aligns with the Azrieli Foundation’s mission, vision and values
  • Undertake all duties and responsibilities in alignment with AMP’s strategic objectives and the Azrieli Foundation’s strategic orientation
  • Act as an advocate for AMP and the Azrieli Foundation: communicate the organization’s mission, vision, values, achievements and unique role in the community 

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of project management experience required; experience in the charitable sector is an asset 
  • A university training in music with a focus on performance and/or musicology is preferred; training in arts and cultural management is considered valuable
  • Strong oral, written and visual communication skills using both official languages is critical to this role 
  • Excellent working knowledge of the classical music sector in Canada; knowledge of the international field is an asset 
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders to develop, plan, implement, report on and improve programs

  • Knowledge of current web/online knowledge-sharing software and tools
  • Experience working in a PC-based environment using a variety of software applications, mostly MS Office suite  
  • Valid driver’s licence is required
