Montreal, Decembre 5, 2017 — The Conservatoire de musique de Montréal is pleased to invite you to attend a concert entitled En Amour Avec Le Violoncelle, with cellists Denis Brott and Stéphane Tétreault, as well as pianist Suzanne Blondin, Saturday, December 16, as part of the Vivace series of the Conservatoire. Soprano Aline Kutan and the students and graduates of the Conservatoire will also join the musicians, including cellists Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy, Vincent Bergeron, Pierre-Alain Bouvrette, Chloé Dominguez, Audréanne Filion, Laurence Gaudreau, Lorraine Gauthier-Giroux, Agnès Langlois, Bruno Tobon and others.

They will perform a unique two-cello arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suite no 5 BWV 1011 in C minor,  Friedrich August Kummer’s Duet op. 22 in C major, Gian Carlo Menotti’s Suite for 2 cellos and piano, David Popper’s Requiem op. 66 for 3 (6) cellos and piano, Heitor Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brasileiras nos 1 and 5 and Julius Klengel’s Hymnus for 12 cellos op. 57.

Denis Brott is renowned world-wide as one of the most eminent Canadian artists. He has won many awards and distinctions and performed as soloist with all major Canadian orchestras under the direction of acclaimed conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Franz-Paul Decker, Mario Bernardi and Yoav Talmi. Denis Brott is Founder and Artistic Director of the Montreal Chamber Music Festival, which celebrates its 23rd season in 2018, Cello and Chamber Music Professor and Conductor of the Grand Orchestre à cordes at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. In 1985, Denis Brott played a pivotal role in the creation of the Canada Council for the Arts Musical Instrument Bank which gave him a magnificent 1706 David Tecchler cello for his lifetime use. Denis Brott is the recipient of the Great Montrealers Award and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of his cultural contribution to Canada. In 2015, Canada’s Governor General David Johnston bestowed upon him the Order of Canada for his outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.  In 2016, Denis Brott was invested by Mayor Denis Coderre into the Order of Montreal for his notable contribution to the international reputation of Montreal and his exemplary commitment to the community.

True prodigy, numerous awards and hounours winner, Stéphane Tétreault is guest soloist of the very first European tour of the Orchestre Métropolitain under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. He was selected as laureate of the “Classe d’Excellence de violoncelle” of Gautier Capuçon at the Louis Vuitton Foundation and received the Career Development Award of the Women’s Musical Club of Toronto. In 2013, he was the first recipient of the Fernand-Lindsay Career Award of the Fondation Père Lindsay as well as the Choquette-Symcox Award of the Jeunesses Musicales Canada. Grand Prize winner in the Montreal Symphony Standard Life-OSM 2007 Competition, he was nominated Révélation Radio-Canada 2011-2012 in classical music, received the Opus Award of the Discovery of the year, and crowned Celebrity of the week by the newspaper La Presse in 2012. For three straight years, he has been ranked amongst “CBC Radio’s 30 Hot Canadian classical musicians under 30.” Mr. Tétreault has performed with violinist and conductor Maxim Vengerov as well as with pianist Alexandre Tharaud. He has also worked under the direction of Maestros Michael Tilson Thomas, Kent Nagano, Paul McCreesh, Julian Kuerti, Timothy Vernon, James Feddeck and many more.

Refined pianist, Suzanne Blondin collaborates in numerous concerts with renowned artists. She has appeared as guest soloist with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre métropolitain as well as the Orchestre symphonique des Jeunes de Montréal. She has given numerous recitals in the United States, France and Switzerland, and recorded for the Strasbourg, Geneva, Lausanne and Lugano radios. Madame Blondin regularly performs in chamber music concerts, frequently playing with Olivier Godin, in four-hand piano & two piano repertoire. She was also the official pianist for the Concours Musical International de Montréal 2006 and 2013 editions. She is frequently on the faculty at the International Music and Dance Academy of Domaine Forget as pianist accompanying master classes.
