Greetings,

The Conseil des arts de Montréal has taken note of the Gouvernement du Québec’s guidance on measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We are closely monitoring the situation as it evolves and wish to reassure the Montréal organizations and collectives we work with.

The Conseil’s financial commitments
Facing this emergency situation, the Conseil des arts de Montréal will maintain its financial commitments to the organizations and collectives it supports through its various programs. We are aware of the financial strain these circumstances will create within the community.

Measures to maintain the Conseil’s services
In light of the extraordinary measures announced, Conseil staff are encouraged to work from home.  Their work has been organized in such a way as to allow organizations and collectives to continue to communicate with them. Employees experiencing such symptoms as fever, coughing, and aches and pains must remain at home to prevent transmission. The Conseil also reminds staff of proper hand hygiene measures and coughing etiquette.

Professional trips abroad have also been suspended. Those currently travelling outside the country will be required to self-quarantine at home for a period of fourteen (14) days.

Following the announcement on March 14th of the ministère de la Culture et des Communications, the studios, the Conseil’s room and the Atrium will be closed until March 30, 2020 inclusively. We are in line with the special measures of the state of public-health emergency in Quebec.

Postponement of the 35th Grand Prix du Conseil
With the health and safety of the Montréal community at heart, the Conseil des arts de Montréal regrets having to postpone the 35th Grand Prix breakfast. This decision aims to respect the Gouvernement du Québec’s ban on gatherings of more than 250 people. A new date will be announced later on.

A need for solidarity
With all the show cancellations, we wish to remind organizations and collectives that they can invite ticket holders requesting a refund to make a donation. This will provide a substantial financial boost to the arts community in these difficult times. We remain a strong and united community in the face of these disruptions, which have an enormous impact on Montréal’s cultural community, among others.
