From 500+ global entries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, OAcademy is pleased to announce the ten recipients of the 2022 Carlos Miguel Prieto Conducting Fellowship. This cohort — the first of its kind — is embarking on a 6-month learning journey mentored by top conductors including Marin Alsop, Leonard Slatkin, Simone Young, and others. Components of the learning experience include regular interpretation masterclasses with the fellowship’s namesake Musical America’s Conductor of the Year Carlos Miguel Prieto, Fellowship Principal Guest Conductors Alexander Shelley of the National Arts Center Canada and Paolo Bortolameolli of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and studio sessions with Fellowship Director Scott Wilson of London’s Guildhall School of Music. Conducting fellows also take part in professional development events with leading industry career advisors and artistic planning heads, building the perspective, skills, and networks needed to win professional appointments. The conducting fellowship experience also offers participants a range of plenary learning activities with members of the wider instrumental OAcademy including full orchestra sessions, leadership classes, thematic repertoire workshops, and other supplementary features of the comprehensive digital training experience.
