We’re investing in innovation—be bold, take risks, bring your ideas forward!

The Canada Council for the Arts is excited to announce our new Strategic Innovation Fund.

More than $200 million has been committed over the next five years to build a more resilient, sustainable, connected, inclusive and equitable arts sector. Our goal is to support a range of artists and arts organizations, throughout their innovation journeys, to create meaningful change in the arts sector and beyond.

If you are interested in learning more about what kinds of projects are eligible, how to apply and more, visit the Innovation Grants page on our website.

Who can apply, and when?

The Strategic Innovation Fund has three main components—Seed, Cultivate and Grow—to suit applicants and projects of different stages and sizes.

The Seed component offers grants of up to $25,000. It welcomes projects that propose smaller-scale innovation ideas and encourages you to experiment, plan and build capacity. To apply, you will need a validated Canada Council profile. If you don’t already have one, you can create your applicant profile on our granting portal.

We also welcome Expressions of Interest in the Grow component for existing projects that are ready to scale up. Please visit the Grow webpage for more information on this opportunity.

Coming soon

Applications to the Cultivate component will open shortly. Please stay tuned for announcements.

We look forward to receiving your ideas and to strengthening the arts sector together. Meanwhile, help us spread the word within your networks. Thank you!
