Ballet Opéra Pantomime (BOP) has won the Prix de la relève – Caisse Desjardins de la Culture 2019 along with the award’s $5,000 purse. The award recognizes the work of young collectives or professional organizations that take transformative action to support emerging artists.

Ballet Opéra Pantomime
Founded in 2013 by Hubert Tanguay-Labrosse and Alexis Raynault, Ballet Opéra Pantomime (BOP) seeks to create multidisciplinary shows centred on works of classical and contemporary music and presented in settings that are rich in emotional resonance for spectators.

The jury members selected Ballet Opéra Pantomime for its innovative and singular contribution to the vibrancy of Montreal’s arts scene. By offering Montréal’s artists an exceptional venue for artistic creation and production, BOP helps showcase artists and their works and makes every show a must-see event.

The jury was composed of Mellissa Larivière, Artistic and General Director of the ZH Festival, Rachel McCrum, Communications Coordinator at the QWF and a poet, performer and host of La poésie partout, and Houda Rihani, Development Officer with La Machinerie des arts.

Le Prix de la relève – Caisse Desjardins de la Culture
The Prix de la relève – Caisse Desjardins de la Culture was created by the Conseil des arts de Montréal in association with its partner, the Caisse Desjardins de la Culture, to honour initiatives that improve the working conditions of emerging artists, encourage the pooling of resources, expertise and knowledge, support workplace integration, facilitate access to information and funding, or offer new organizational models for artistic creation, production and presentation.
