Broadway Across Canada and Evenko present the shoe-stopping production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier this week. Featuring a thoroughly modern incarnation of the iconic hit, this prodigious production is a multi-dimensional extravaganza. Lavish sets and costumes are complemented by equally impressive lighting. Traditional Cinderella moments have been spectacularly updated to deliver modern twists and surprising turns. Shoe-loving show-goers will surely be rolling in the aisles with “footwear-laced” comedic shtick. Enhancing the musical experience in this opulent show, is an outstanding orchestra which features old favorites like “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It’s Possible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago.” This stage adaptation of Cinderella debuted on Broadway in January 2013 and won a Tony Award for best costumes. It features Douglas Carter Beane’s new book, which incorporates the original by Oscar Hammerstein II. Mark Brokaw directs while Josh Rhodes handles choreography. Musical adaptation, supervision and arrangements are by David Chase, with orchestrations by Danny Troob.
