Ten young professional singers have been selected to perform in Singing Stars: The Next Generation, presented by the International Resource Centre for Performing Artists, a service organization for Canada’s musicians (http://ircpa.net).

The performance will take place Monday, November 6, with a 7 p.m. arrival time, at Zoomer Hall, home of Classical FM, 70 Jefferson Avenue (King and Dufferin area in Toronto’s Liberty Village).

Tickets, $30, $20 for under-30s, seniors and arts workers; and more information may be obtained via www.ircpa.net or by calling 416-362-1422. Free parking is available.

All of the singers will have taken part in the IRCPA’s Encounter with Brett Polegato, in which the celebrated Canadian operatic baritone will have provided valuable advice, encouraging the singers to advance their skills, offering career guidance, and preparing them for the concert.

The singers will be featured in an evening of operatic or oratorio arias with pianist Rachel Andrist. Ms. Andrist is also collaborative pianist for the Encounter.

At the conclusion of the November 6 concert, one of the singers will be chosen to receive a coveted IRCPA Career Blueprint Award. The recipient will spend three days at the National Opera America Center in New York, where new photographs, video and audio recordings, website consultation, mentoring with professionals, and more is provided.

The 10 singers are the following:

Sopranos: Brianna de Santis, Vania Margani
Mezzo-soprano: Beste Kalendar
Tenors: Asitha Tennekoon, Jacques Arsenault, Jean-Philippe Lazure
Baritones: Andrey Andreychik, Bradley Christensen, Clarence Frazer, David Diston

Each is receiving a $400 scholarship in the name of an important Canadian musical artist past or present, through the IRCPA’s second Name a Scholarship campaign.

Donors are still welcome to contribute scholarships.
