ItalfestMT

Montréal, August 5 to 20
www.italfestmtl.ca

ItalfestMTL is a cultural festival that enhances the Italian culture, and enriches Montreal summers. ItalfestMTL has been celebrating Italian culture through music, among many other cultural events, for 29 years now. This year’s edition will once again leave the city tuneful, as our many venues across the city will resonate the sounds of Italy throughout the duration of the festival. This year, Montrealers can look forward to being enchanted by Lyrico, who will be accompanied by an orchestra. There will also be a presentation of Giacchino Rossini’s famous opera The Barber of Seville in Little Italy. We are proud to announce that for the first time, the festival will also be present in Quartier des spectacles, taking a bigger place on Montreal’s cultural scene.

The 11th edition of the Festival d’Opéra de Québec is inviting festival-goers on a journey into the imagination with musical works that have their roots in literature.

The programme’s flagship work is the famous Faust by Gounod. The festival will present the world première of an original creation inspired by the life of writer Marguerite Yourcenar, composed by Éric Champagne and with a booklet written by Hélène Dorion and the late Marie-Claire Blais. Families and the youngest of kids will be able to escape to a marvelous world of fairy tales through a production of Anderson’s tales in the form of a lyrical triptych. To complete the journey: an adaptation of La veuve Joyeuse by Jeunesses Musicales Canada, a lyrical brigade passing through the city, and an opera circuit that will travel back in time to revisit key moments of opera in Quebec.
