The Ladies’ Morning Musical Club, one of Canada’s oldest musical institutions, has been forced to cancel two upcoming concerts following the new restrictions announced yesterday by Quebec Premier François Legault. These restrictions include closing all theatres situated in the “red zones” (the greater Montreal area, the Quebec City area and Chaudiere-Appalaches) to the public as of Oct. 1st for an initial period of 28 days.
“In accordance with the government’s directives to try to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the LMMC is obliged to cancel the concert on October 4th with cellist Matt Haimovitz. Unfortunately, we will also have to cancel the concert on October 25th with pianist Stewart Goodyear. We wish you well throughout this exceptional period.” – LMMC
The LMMC’s 129th season opened at Pollack Hall on Sept. 13th with the Rolston Quartet (read Arthur Kaptainis’ review here) in a program of works by Haydn and Beethoven. Two additional concerts, both sold out, are scheduled for the fall season (Blake Pouliot on Nov. 15 and the New Orford String Quartet on Dec. 6).
