Nuits d’Afrique opens the season on Sept. 5 with a varied We MusiK program at Club Balattou animated by artists Élété and Ilam with the participation of several invited artists. The next day, the Rythmes au féminin (Feminine Rhythms) series presents an evening of traditional Guadeloupean music with the Lanmou Fanm Ka group. On Sept. 18, guitarist and author-composer Hampaté presents a concert of Sahel blues. On Oct. 2, meet the TokaTaNoka duo for a show of hybridized music with a strong Basque influence, with Maider Martineau, a multi-instrumentalist and singer from Basque Country, and Olivier Bussières, a Quebec percussionist specializing in Middle Eastern instruments and various tambourine techniques. www.festivalnuitsdafrique.com

Mundial Montréal

The eighth edition of the Mundial Montréal festival will take place form Nov. 13 to 16. On the program are concerts, conferences and networking activities with dozens of artists and world music industry professionals. This springboard for the national and international careers of select artists offers – notably through its Speed Schmooze sessions – an opportunity for artist representatives, agents and managers to establish connections with some of the most active presenters on the world music scene. Mundial Montreal also serves as an annual meeting place for the pan-Canadian network that broadcasts the music of “Routes du monde.” www.mundialmontreal.com

Vision Diversité

In October, Vision Diversité presents the eighth edition of La Vitrine des musiques métissées (The Intermixed Music Showcase), MUZ, with a dozen artists and groups. This event is punctuated by favourites reserved for the closing night by MUZ partners. Note that the Mardis métissés series (from September to May), co-produced by the Outremont Theatre and Vision Diversité, will present several artists this season, including Juliana and Jesse, Ramon Chicharron, Bea Box and Tevet Sela, and the Noubi Trio, among others from the Montreal scene. www.visiondiversite.com
