La g\u00e9n\u00e9ration actuelle s\u2019efforce de changer la donne et ce nouvel enregistrement en est un excellent exemple. La compositrice et la cheffe d\u2019orchestre sont toutes deux fran\u00e7aises. Louise Farrenc (1804-1875) a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 avec Hummel et Reicha et a \u00e9t\u00e9 professeure de piano au Conservatoire de Paris pendant plus de 30 ans. Elle a compos\u00e9 beaucoup de musique pour piano solo, de la musique de chambre ainsi que trois symphonies. Les deux symphonies de cet enregistrement datent des ann\u00e9es\u00a01840, ce qui les rend \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s contemporaines des symphonies de Schumann. En comparaison, les partitions de Farrenc sont convenues et peu inspir\u00e9es. Elles manquent de m\u00e9lodies m\u00e9morables et d\u2019un d\u00e9veloppement symphonique sophistiqu\u00e9. Elles ne se comparent pas non plus favorablement aux premi\u00e8res symphonies de Gounod ou de Bizet. Mais elles sont certainement un int\u00e9r\u00eat historique et m\u00e9ritent des enregistrements d\u00e9cents. Malheureusement, Laurence Equibey et l\u2019Orchestre Insula se produisant sur des instruments d\u2019\u00e9poque proposent ici des lectures superficielles. Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin s\u2019est r\u00e9cemment int\u00e9ress\u00e9 \u00e0 Farrenc avec des concerts \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al et \u00e0 Philadelphie.
