Ce dernier volet du cycle de l\u2019Orchestre M\u00e9tropolitain sous la direction de Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin affine son profil avec des cordes nettes et des bois acidul\u00e9s tenant dans un bel \u00e9quilibre. Il y a des ombres et des rayons de soleil sous la direction exigeante de N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin, et des merveilles d\u2019interaction contrapuntique et coloriste. Le deuxi\u00e8me mouvement <i>Andantino con moto<\/i> est aussi proche de la musique de chambre que la musique orchestrale puisse l\u2019\u00eatre. M\u00eame les doux pizzicatos de soutien dans les violoncelles sont th\u00e9matiquement convaincants. C\u2019est une v\u00e9ritable illustration de la fa\u00e7on dont on peut faire plus avec moins, bien que j\u2019avoue souhaiter un traitement plus fort de la chorale majestueuse (et r\u00e9p\u00e9titive) dans laquelle tout le final se d\u00e9noue.
