Il est extraordinaire qu\u2019ils se soient produits ensemble le 9 f\u00e9vrier 1976 \u2013 sans coll\u00e8gues et sans orchestre \u2013 au Massey Hall de Toronto. Comme on pouvait s\u2019y attendre, ce fut une soir\u00e9e de violon superlatif \u2212 et d\u2019alto m\u00e9morable \u2013 dans un r\u00e9pertoire qui n\u2019est pas souvent jou\u00e9 ou enregistr\u00e9. Stern \u00e9tait r\u00e9put\u00e9 pour la beaut\u00e9 et la pl\u00e9nitude de son timbre et il est bien capt\u00e9 ici. Et en mati\u00e8re de qualit\u00e9 de timbre, Zukerman n\u2019a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 loin derri\u00e8re son mentor. Dans ce concert, il le suit pas \u00e0 pas.<\/p>\n<p>La <i>Sonate pour deux violons <\/i>opus 56 de Prokofiev est peut-\u00eatre le point culminant du concert par sa substance et la virtuosit\u00e9 que les joueurs apportent au morceau. Mais le <i>Duo pour violon et alto n\u00b0 1 en sol majeur<\/i> K. 423 de Mozart est tout aussi satisfaisant, Zukerman d\u00e9montrant pourquoi il est souvent d\u00e9crit comme le meilleur altiste du monde. C\u2019est un enregistrement unique et inoubliable. D\u2019ailleurs, DOREMI c\u00e9l\u00e8bre l\u2019art d\u2019Isaac Stern d\u2019une mani\u00e8re importante.
