Ici, un quatuor \u00e0 cordes nouvellement form\u00e9 prend une partition de 2012 du compositeur britannique Thomas Ad\u00e8s et la croise avec des \u0153uvres de son propre cru, tr\u00e8s anciennes et tr\u00e8s nouvelles.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>La pi\u00e8ce d&#8217;Ad\u00e8s d\u00e9crit la rotation de la Terre en 24 heures sur son propre axe \u2013 c\u2019est bien, mais pas extraordinairement original dans le concept ou dans le contenu.<\/p>\r\n<p>Comme ses contemporains en arts visuels, les Young British Artists, Ad\u00e8s a r\u00e9colt\u00e9 plus d&#8217;\u00e9minence que d&#8217;admirateurs. L\u2019\u00e9clectisme de ses <em>Four Quarters<\/em> (sic) pr\u00e9sente une faille : ils sont forts dans leurs \u00e9chos nocturnes aux \u0153uvres tardives de Beethoven et Bart\u00f3k, mais insipides dans leurs grincements post-modernes. Aussi impressionnant qu&#8217;il ait \u00e9t\u00e9 dans sa vingtaine, Ad\u00e8s s&#8217;est dilu\u00e9 dans une cinquantaine sentimentale.<\/p>\r\n<p>Mais attendez d&#8217;entendre ce que les Solem font de son \u0153uvre. Entre chaque mouvement, ils ins\u00e8rent un arrangement (principalement par le second violon, William Newell) d&#8217;une pi\u00e8ce famili\u00e8re ou une nouvelle composition, jou\u00e9s avec passion et pr\u00e9cision dans un album collagiste d\u2019une contrainte soutenue. Une lamentation de Purcell est entrecoup\u00e9e par un morceau de Cassandra Miller d&#8217;une vieille chanson folklorique anglaise. Une berceuse de Schumann bouscule Florence Price. Kate Bush cl\u00f4t cet album de quatuors \u00e0 cordes\u00a0: qui aurait cru que vous liriez cette phrase\u00a0?<\/p>\r\n<p>J&#8217;aime les cordes inf\u00e9rieures plus que les cordes sup\u00e9rieures, peut-\u00eatre parce que, comme le diable, elles saisissent les meilleurs airs. Quand j&#8217;ai dit que l&#8217;album \u00e9tait frais\u2026 il sort tout juste du four, enregistr\u00e9 en mars de cette ann\u00e9e. Une longue conversation t\u00e9l\u00e9phonique pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e dans un cadre verveux ne parvient pas \u00e0 retenir mon attention, mais je n\u2019ai rien \u00e0 redire du jeu et j\u2019anticipe grandement la mont\u00e9e de ce groupe.
