Comme Schubert, il mourut jeune, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 32 ans seulement. Les po\u00e8mes et le cycle de chants ne racontent aucune histoire en tant que telle; ils expriment simplement la douleur d\u2019un amour non partag\u00e9. Alors que le compositeur a con\u00e7u le cycle de chansons pour une voix de t\u00e9nor, il a parfois \u00e9t\u00e9 interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 par des femmes. En fait, il existe des enregistrements exceptionnels de femmes de la stature de Lotte Lehmann, Brigitte Fassbaender, Christa Ludwig et de notre propre Lois Marshall. Dans son enregistrement (DG 4233662), Ludwig est accompagn\u00e9e par James Levine, ancien directeur musical du Metropolitan Opera. Son successeur au Met, Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin, est l\u2019accompagnateur de ce nouvel enregistrement.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Contrairement aux chanteuses susmentionn\u00e9es, Joyce DiDonato a peu d\u2019exp\u00e9rience comme chanteuse de lieder. N\u00e9anmoins, en l\u2019\u00e9coutant, on s\u2019\u00e9merveille de la fa\u00e7on dont elle s\u2019est adapt\u00e9e de mani\u00e8re convaincante \u00e0 un nouveau genre musical. DiDonato s\u2019est fait une r\u00e9putation de mezzo-soprano lyrique colorature, notamment dans les op\u00e9ras de Haendel, Mozart et Rossini. Il n\u2019y a pas d\u2019appel \u00e0 d\u2019extraordinaires artifices techniques dans <i>Winterreise,<\/i> mais plut\u00f4t un don pour exprimer des sentiments d\u2019une mani\u00e8re quasi conversationnelle \u00e0 travers les mots et la musique. DiDonato et N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin sont tous deux \u00e0 la hauteur. Il suffit d\u2019\u00e9couter les interpr\u00e9tations sobres et pour la plupart <i>sotto voce<\/i>, mais profond\u00e9ment \u00e9mouvantes, de <i>Der Lindenbaum<\/i> et <i>Rast<\/i>.
