Son dernier album, sorti au d\u00e9but de la pand\u00e9mie, est le cinqui\u00e8me de sa carri\u00e8re, apr\u00e8s <em>Par-dessus bord<\/em> (2004), <em>Rose Sang<\/em> (2008), <em>Le D\u00e9sert des solitudes<\/em> (2011) et <em>La Maison du monde<\/em> (2015).<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Comme dans ses pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents enregistrements, on retrouve des textures riches et un souci d\u2019orchestration qui donnent une vraie valeur ajout\u00e9e aux chansons de Catherine Major. On retrouve aussi des textes tr\u00e8s po\u00e9tiques, que l\u2019auteure a co\u00e9crits avec Jeff Moran. Et comme on peut s\u2019y attendre en po\u00e9sie, le sens de ces textes est souvent cach\u00e9. De quoi rendre perplexe la plupart des auditeurs qui entendraient Catherine Major pour la premi\u00e8re fois.<\/p>\r\n<p>Sur son dernier opus, l\u2019artiste d\u00e9laisse le piano acoustique \u2013 son instrument de pr\u00e9dilection, qu\u2019elle avait c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 notamment dans sa chanson <em>Le piano ivre<\/em> \u2013 et opte plut\u00f4t pour un synth\u00e9tiseur, des sons \u00e9lectros, de la distorsion et, en toile de fond, un orchestre symphonique. Celui-ci ressort plus clairement lors d\u2019intros et de finales instrumentaux, en plus d\u2019une courte pi\u00e8ce intitul\u00e9e <em>Sanglot orchestral<\/em>, mais sans plus.<\/p>\r\n<p>Parmi nos coups de c\u0153ur, mentionnons <em>La bouteille<\/em> pour ses paroles inspir\u00e9es et son style assez \u00e9loign\u00e9 de l\u2019habituelle Catherine Major, un style plus parl\u00e9 que chant\u00e9. Coup de c\u0153ur \u00e9galement pour <em>Ma s\u0153ur<\/em>, <em>Tableau glac\u00e9<\/em> et <em>Claustrophobe<\/em>, trois chansons qui s\u2019encha\u00eenent et offrent \u00e0 chaque fois des th\u00e8mes m\u00e9lancoliques, tr\u00e8s riches sur le plan musical.
