Le lien est \u00e9vident dans la sonate pour violoncelle de Jenner, une partition de 1901 qui cherche \u00e0 imiter le ma\u00eetre dans sa complexit\u00e9 soigneusement \u00e9labor\u00e9e et son flux m\u00e9lodique authentique. Si la recherche de savoir-faire semble un peu appliqu\u00e9e dans le finale, avec son vaste \u00e9pilogue post-cadentiel de plus de deux minutes, on appr\u00e9cie n\u00e9anmoins les objectifs s\u00e9rieux. Le doctorant de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al Thomas Chartr\u00e9 joue avec une douce assurance, laissant le pianiste Serhiy Salov (accompagnement de luxe) jouer un r\u00f4le \u00e9gal. L\u2019Adagio et Allegro de Schumann (\u00e0 l\u2019origine pour cor, ne l\u2019oublions pas) est convenablement doux (dans l\u2019Adagio) et vif (dans l\u2019Allegro). La sonate op. 38 de Brahms commence \u00e0 un rythme dangereusement mod\u00e9r\u00e9, mais avec un son chaud et un sentiment sinc\u00e8re, Chartr\u00e9 soutient le mouvement (marqu\u00e9 <i>Allegro ma non troppo<\/i>) pendant une dur\u00e9e prolong\u00e9e de 14 minutes 33. Le trio du Menuetto gagnerait \u00e0 adopter un tempo plus actif, mais le finale semi-fugu\u00e9 progresse avec vigueur. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019abondance de d\u00e9tails expressifs, l\u2019enregistrement est \u00e0 la hauteur de sa r\u00e9putation de \u00ab\u00a0romantique\u00a0\u00bb.
