De plus, la prise de son, riche et profonde, est un plaisir ajout\u00e9. Depuis plus de 30 ans, le jazz et les musiques improvis\u00e9es sont son gagne-pain, ce qui fait de lui un musicien tr\u00e8s sollicit\u00e9 dans les cercles des musiques cr\u00e9atives, tant \u00e0 New York qu\u2019ailleurs. En f\u00e9vrier dernier, son second disque en solo a vu le jour, 27 ans apr\u00e8s son premier, paru sur une \u00e9tiquette jadis g\u00e9r\u00e9e par l\u2019un de ses employeurs les plus fid\u00e8les, John Zorn. Six des huit pi\u00e8ces au programme de 43 minutes sont les siennes, la premi\u00e8re et la troisi\u00e8me \u00e9tant de Sylvie Courvoisier et Ornette Coleman respectivement. Feldman se permet de plier quelque peu la r\u00e8gle du solo absolu en se surenregistrant ici et l\u00e0. Pour ceux qui le connaissent, on peut vous assurer que tous les traits de jeu qui lui sont propres y sont, plus ma\u00eetris\u00e9s que jamais. Marco von Orelli est un Suisse qui se sert ici de plusieurs de ses variantes, cornet, trompette piccolo et une autre \u00e0 coulisse. Au lieu de s\u2019\u00e9parpiller dans de longues pi\u00e8ces, il concentre ses efforts, la dur\u00e9e de celles-ci (11 au total) d\u00e9passant le cap des cinq minutes \u00e0 deux reprises seulement. Force est de constater qu\u2019il manipule ses binious avec aise et nul ne peut douter qu\u2019il a explor\u00e9 leurs possibilit\u00e9s, soutirant des sonorit\u00e9s qui rel\u00e8vent davantage de purs effets que de notes. Si von Orelli distille ses exp\u00e9rimentations \u00e0 l\u2019essentiel, Schmid \u00e9tale les siennes, deux d\u2019entre elles \u00e9tant manipul\u00e9es \u00e9lectroniquement. Toute r\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux normes de jeux de cet instrument est mise au ban ici, \u00e0 un point tel qu\u2019on ne le reconna\u00eet m\u00eame plus par endroits.
