Apr\u00e8s avoir fait ses d\u00e9buts au Carnegie Hall, il est parti jouer au Newport Jazz Festival. Il a organis\u00e9 un concours international pour les compositeurs de jazz moderne et mis en place un cours d&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9 d&#8217;improvisation. En 1970, il a \u00e9crit une symphonie en sol qui combinait un orchestre \u00e0 cordes classique et un big band de jazz. Elle comporte trois mouvements : Maestoso, Andante et Adagio. Elle est plus proche de Nuremberg que de la Nouvelle-Orl\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n<p>Mais Gulda a un don pour la m\u00e9lodie et ses mouvements lents sont sans pr\u00e9tention. Il dirige lui-m\u00eame l&#8217;orchestre de la radio de Stuttgart et, si vous achetez ce disque, vous serez parmi les premiers \u00e0 entendre la symphonie, puisqu&#8217;elle n&#8217;a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9e auparavant. Na\u00efve, au pire, elle a 35 minutes d&#8217;invention, ce qui est plus que ce que l&#8217;on peut dire de la plupart des symphonies de la fin du XXe si\u00e8cle.
