J&#8217;\u00e9tais enfant et cela doit avoir eu lieu il y a 60 ans. Il fait passer l&#8217;accent du flegmatique \u00e0 quelque chose de plus gaulois et la dynamique \u00e0 une tendresse chuchotante. Il y a tellement d&#8217;individualit\u00e9 dans son interpr\u00e9tation que je me demandais sans cesse pourquoi je n&#8217;\u00e9tais pas plus \u00e9mu. La cause r\u00e9side, je pense, dans le fait que le London Symphony Orchestra et le chef d&#8217;orchestre Simon Rattle essaient un peu trop de vendre l&#8217;\u0153uvre avec des moyens sentimentaux. Elgar s&#8217;entend mieux quand un chef d&#8217;orchestre semble en faire moins, \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re d&#8217;Adrian Boult, John Barbirolli ou Vernon Handley. La sonorit\u00e9 orchestrale, elle aussi, manque de faste, quelles que soient les circonstances difficiles du moment.<\/p>\n<p>Capu\u00e7on est mieux assorti dans la sonate pour violon du pianiste Stephen Hough, un interlocuteur id\u00e9al qui n&#8217;interrompt jamais brutalement et prend son temps pour absorber chaque d\u00e9claration avant de proposer une riposte raisonn\u00e9e. Il s&#8217;agit d&#8217;un dialogue serein et civilis\u00e9 sur un canal souvent g\u00e2ch\u00e9 de nos jours par une mauvaise communication d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9e.
