Ici, les Luminous Voices de Calgary, qui se d\u00e9crivent avec pr\u00e9cision, sous la direction de leur directeur musical Timothy Shantz, font un plaidoyer admirable pour les partitions sacr\u00e9es du compositeur n\u00e9o-\u00e9cossais Peter-Anthony Togni. En commen\u00e7ant par un <em>Totus Tuus<\/em> calmement \u00e9difiant et essentiellement consonant adress\u00e9 \u00e0 la Vierge. La texture simple d\u2019un <em>Requiem et Lux<\/em> est doucement anim\u00e9e par une dynamique subtile. Les dissonances sont si purement rendues par ces chanteurs (31 sont r\u00e9pertori\u00e9s dans le livret) qu\u2019elles projettent une immobilit\u00e9 paradoxale. Une version en fran\u00e7ais du psaume 98 transforme les mots \u00ab chantez au Seigneur \u00bb en une figure ostinato tr\u00e8s vivante. La composition-titre en trois mouvements s\u2019ouvre sur un s\u00e9duisant duo de fl\u00fbtes et se d\u00e9veloppe agr\u00e9ablement. Le traitement du texte de T.S. Eliot est aussi bien d\u00e9votionnel que maritime. Les mers sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement calmes, mais il y a des scintillements d\u2019embruns et de soleil. \u00ab Monter dans un bateau ou sur un navire est une sorte d\u2019acte de foi, dit le compositeur.
