Williams, 54 ans, a chant\u00e9 Billy Budd et Don Giovanni, entre autres r\u00f4les d&#8217;op\u00e9ra. Il est aussi compositeur. Mais c\u2019est avec les lieder qu\u2019il a trouv\u00e9 sa v\u00e9ritable vocation. Et son chant sur le cycle de l&#8217;amour de Schubert capte toutes les couleurs d&#8217;un paysage bucolique et la grisaille d&#8217;un d\u00e9sir inaccessible.<\/p>\n<p>Ce que j\u2019aime particuli\u00e8rement, c\u2019est que, contrairement \u00e0 Fischer-Dieskau par exemple, il ne durcit pas la voix et n\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve pas le ton pour exprimer sa col\u00e8re ou sa frustration. Chaque nuance d\u2019\u00e9motion est d\u00e9licatement rendue, au-dessus du ruisseau murmurant et du ciel sombre de l\u2019accompagnement intuitif d\u2019Iain Burnside. \u00c0 travers tout le cycle, il n\u2019y a \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s aucune d\u00e9cision interpr\u00e9tative que je remette en question.
