Photo: Daniel Vass \/ ECM Records<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Dans le cadre d\u2019une s\u00e9rie de cinq concerts, le piano sera \u00e0 l\u2019honneur de quatre d\u2019entre eux\u00a0: outre le duo trait\u00e9 plus haut, le Su\u00e9dois Bobo Stenson (5 juillet) et le Norv\u00e9gien Tord Gustavsen (28 juin) joueront en solo et en trio respectivement tandis que l\u2019Helv\u00e8te Nik B\u00e4rtsch sera \u00e0 la t\u00eate de son quartette Ronin (5 juillet). Exception \u00e0 cette r\u00e8gle, le distingu\u00e9 compagnon de route de Brad Mehldau, le contrebassiste Larry Grenadier, reprendra sans doute la musique de son disque solo (<em>The Gleaner<\/em>), paru en f\u00e9vrier dernier (4 juillet).<\/p>\n<p>Parmi les invit\u00e9s \u00e0 cette s\u00e9rie-hommage, Stenson est le doyen de la maison de disques. Sa premi\u00e8re pr\u00e9sence, qui remonte \u00e0 1971, devance d\u2019un an l\u2019entr\u00e9e de son homologue am\u00e9ricain Keith Jarrett. Ces deux chasseurs d\u2019ivoires font d\u2019ailleurs partie de la Sainte Trinit\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9tiquette, le troisi\u00e8me esprit \u00e9tant, bien \u00e9videmment, le saxo norv\u00e9gien Jan Garbarek. Sans ces deux Scandinaves, ECM ne serait sans doute pas devenu le v\u00e9hicule par excellence de cette pr\u00e9tendue sonorit\u00e9 nordique, la <em>Nordic Sound<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis, ce style musical continue de faire de nouveaux adeptes, Gustavsen \u00e9tant le parfait exemple. Sa musique, spacieuse et introspective, se d\u00e9ploie sans empressement, sans \u00e9chapp\u00e9es subites ou tours de haute voltige. Plus contr\u00f4l\u00e9e encore, celle de B\u00e4rtsch se cantonne dans des cellules r\u00e9p\u00e9titives qui laissent peu de place \u00e0 des initiatives personnelles, \u00e0 l\u2019encontre m\u00eame d\u2019un des traits essentiels du jazz. Une s\u00e9rie aux allures intimistes s\u2019annonce donc, mais ce choix, faut-il le dire, ne repr\u00e9sente qu\u2019un petit \u00e9chantillon de la musique produite par cette \u00e9tiquette.<\/p>\n<h3>Ottawa au f\u00e9minin pluriel<\/h3>\n<p>D\u00e9voil\u00e9 le 8 mars dernier, Journ\u00e9e internationale des femmes, le programme du Festival de jazz d\u2019Ottawa sera d\u00e9clin\u00e9 au f\u00e9minin pluriel. De ses 45 concerts, pr\u00e8s de la moiti\u00e9 (21) sont plac\u00e9s sous la direction de femmes. Mis sur pied en 2017, il sollicite des appuis de festivals pour atteindre cet objectif d\u2019ici 2022. Quinze festivals canadiens ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 accord\u00e9 leur appui.<\/p>\n<p>Quant \u00e0 la programmation du festival, signalons la commande pass\u00e9e \u00e0 Christine Jensen de monter un grand orchestre avec un r\u00e9pertoire provenant de son personnel f\u00e9minin, les \u00e9lues \u00e9tant Marianne Trudel, Anna Webber, Tara Davidson et Claire Devlin (25 juin, 19\u00a0h).
