Contrairement au <em>Requiem<\/em>, <em>Asrael<\/em> ne s\u2019est jamais fait remarquer en dehors de son foyer de cr\u00e9ation. Ses meilleurs interpr\u00e8tes ont toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 tch\u00e8ques \u2013 Talich, An\u010derl, Kubel\u00edk, Pe\u0161ek et maintenant Jiri B\u011blohl\u00e1vek. Pour le dernier interpr\u00e8te, l&#8217;h\u00e9ritage devait peser particuli\u00e8rement lourd dans la mesure o\u00f9 il \u00e9tait atteint d\u2019une maladie mortelle et qu\u2019il savait que cet enregistrement serait son ultime contribution musicale.<\/p>\n<p>N\u2019ayant jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 un chef flamboyant, Ji\u0159\u00ed B\u011blohl\u00e1vek opte pour de grands contrastes dynamiques dans le mouvement d&#8217;ouverture, poussant l\u2019Orchestre philharmonique tch\u00e8que aux limites de sa zone de confort. Le troisi\u00e8me mouvement, Vivace, sonne plus mahl\u00e9rien que jamais (Mahler a-t-il toujours mieux dans\u00e9 en tch\u00e8que ?). Et les deux finales en <em>adagio<\/em> plongent profond\u00e9ment dans l&#8217;\u00e2me humaine pour trouver une consolation aux grandes pertes.<\/p>\n<p>Il y a de la splendeur dans cette musique et dans cette approche. Je ne voudrais pas placer cette version au-dessus des quatre que j&#8217;ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 recommand\u00e9es, car chacune apporte une dimension contemporaine \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153uvre, repr\u00e9sentative du peuple tch\u00e8que sous le r\u00e9gime nazi, le communisme, le lib\u00e9ralisme ainsi que la corruption et la confusion actuelles. Avec B\u011blohl\u00e1vek, l\u2019angle personnel est manifeste. Comme le compositeur, il trouve le moyen de se plier \u00e0 l&#8217;implacabilit\u00e9 du destin, sans \u00e9gard \u00e0 la situation politique.
