Orchestre du Centre national des Arts du Canada, Alexandre Shelley \/\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"CDdescription\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Analekta AN 2 8874-5<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Parmi les sorties qui marqueront cet automne musical, il ne faut pas passer \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 du <em>Concerto de l\u2019Asile<\/em>, \u0153uvre magistrale compos\u00e9e par Walter Boudreau pour le pianiste Alain Lef\u00e8vre, hommage au po\u00e8te et dramaturge qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois Claude Gauvreau. Ce double album contient \u00e9galement <em>Sh\u00e9h\u00e9razade<\/em> de Rimski-Korsakov.<\/p>\n<p>Le <em>Concerto de l\u2019Asile<\/em> se pose en v\u00e9ritable all\u00e9gorie du po\u00e8te libertaire face \u00e0 l\u2019autoritarisme social et rejoint \u00e0 plusieurs niveaux le parcours de Claude Gauvreau, lui-m\u00eame intern\u00e9 \u00e0 plusieurs reprises durant sa vie. Le premier mouvement oppose un piano marginal, exploratoire, transcendant \u00e0 un orchestre brut, tranch\u00e9, r\u00e9pressif. Le deuxi\u00e8me mouvement, m\u00e9taphore de l\u2019asile, laisse place \u00e0 une atmosph\u00e8re d\u2019un calme inqui\u00e9tant. Dans cet enfermement o\u00f9 le piano-po\u00e8te reste muet, c\u2019est la harpe, la fl\u00fbte puis le violon qui nous guident le long de ces couloirs \u00e0 glacer les os. Le piano appara\u00eet peu avant la fin, semblant faire d\u00e9sormais partie du d\u00e9cor. Brusque changement dans le troisi\u00e8me mouvement, o\u00f9 le soliste retrouve toute sa verve et s\u2019\u00e9carte des sentiers battus pour s\u2019imposer peu \u00e0 peu dans cette \u00ab\u00a0charge de l\u2019orignal \u00e9pormyable\u00a0\u00bb, titre-hommage \u00e0 la pi\u00e8ce de Gauvreau o\u00f9 le h\u00e9ros, cobaye victime de \u00ab\u00a0cruaut\u00e9s animales\u00a0\u00bb, fonce t\u00eate baiss\u00e9e pour \u00e9chapper \u00e0 l\u2019univers concentrationnaire dans un d\u00e9ferlement de mots souvent incompr\u00e9hensibles.<\/p>\n<p>On sent poindre \u00e0 travers le jeu d\u2019Alain Lef\u00e8vre la forte personnalit\u00e9 du po\u00e8te-musicien en qu\u00eate d\u2019un sens que seuls le chaos et l\u2019insurrection contre l\u2019ordre \u00e9tabli peuvent ramener. La musique trouve des \u00e9chos lointains dans la virtuosit\u00e9 de Liszt ou encore la musique de film de Danny Elfman. L\u2019aspect narratif permet \u00e0 l\u2019auditeur de suivre l\u2019\u00e9volution du discours avec la m\u00eame excitation qu\u2019un r\u00e9cit rempli de suspense, en d\u00e9couvrant des univers musicaux sans cesse renouvel\u00e9s. L\u2019orchestre dirig\u00e9 par Alexandre Shelley est sombre, expansif, lumineux.
