Pour toutes les pi\u00e8ces, il s\u2019agit d\u2019un premier enregistrement.<\/p>\n<p>Le choix de pi\u00e8ces permet \u00e0 Rebecca Jeffreys d\u2019exploiter tout le registre de son instrument et le piano est davantage trait\u00e9 comme deuxi\u00e8me soliste et non comme simple accompagnateur.<\/p>\n<p>La premi\u00e8re \u0153uvre, <em>Byzantine Dances<\/em> de Russel Nadel, porte bien son titre, explorant des sonorit\u00e9s orientales et une rythmique dansante.<\/p>\n<p><em>Intermezzo<\/em>, de Francis Kayali, comporte trois mouvements\u00a0: Prelude, Nocturne et Capriccio. C\u2019est probablement l\u2019\u0153uvre la moins m\u00e9morable de l\u2019album.<\/p>\n<p>On encha\u00eene ensuite avec <em>Romantic Sonata \u2013 Poems of Light<\/em> de Jeffrey Hoover. \u00c9galement en trois mouvements, la musique est imag\u00e9e. Le compositeur, qui est par ailleurs artiste visuel, a peint un triptyque repr\u00e9sentant chaque mouvement\u00a0: <em>Of Light And Shadow<\/em>, <em>Colors in the Clouds<\/em> et <em>Prism of the Heart<\/em>. L\u2019illustration sur la pochette est aussi de lui.<\/p>\n<p>La pi\u00e8ce <em>Acadian Dreams<\/em> d\u2019Adrienne Albert sort du lot avec ses r\u00e9f\u00e9rences folkloriques. Amusante et joyeuse, elle pourrait sans doute figurer dans la trame sonore d\u2019un film d\u2019animation.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u0153uvre finale, <em>Flute Suite in D Major<\/em> op. 3 de Kevin W. Walker, est compos\u00e9e de cinq mouvements, tous diff\u00e9rents. La ma\u00eetrise de l\u2019\u00e9criture, la forme classique et le contenu riche en font l\u2019\u0153uvre la plus notable.<\/p>\n<p>La sonorit\u00e9 de l\u2019album est organique. Toutefois, la prise de son tr\u00e8s rapproch\u00e9e ne pardonne pas\u00a0: on remarque chaque imperfection et impr\u00e9cision. La rigueur rythmique n\u2019est pas toujours au rendez-vous. Les deux instrumentistes manquent parfois de coh\u00e9sion et leur palette de nuances est plut\u00f4t restreinte. L\u2019\u00e9motion a du mal \u00e0 transpara\u00eetre.
