C\u2019est ce qui est arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 Paul Christopher et Milovan Paz. Les deux violoncellistes ont enregistr\u00e9 les <em>Cours m\u00e9thodiques<\/em> de Jacques Offenbach en entier et ont par la suite d\u00e9couvert quatre nouveaux opus qui forment l\u2019<em>\u00c9cole du violoncelle<\/em>. Belle surprise.<\/p>\n<p>Cet album pr\u00e9sente donc deux de ces duos, les opus 19 et 20. Bien loin de l\u2019<em>Orph\u00e9e aux Enfers <\/em>\u00e0 tous les \u00e9gards, les deux \u0153uvres sont simples, agr\u00e9ables \u00e0 \u00e9couter et peu virtuoses.<\/p>\n<p>Comme Offenbach \u00e9tait lui-m\u00eame violoncelliste, ces duos se voulaient d\u2019abord un outil p\u00e9dagogique d\u2019une difficult\u00e9 croissante. On entend d\u2019ailleurs le c\u00f4t\u00e9 scolaire.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019enregistrement capte bien la sonorit\u00e9 chaleureuse des violoncelles et les nuances textur\u00e9es des interpr\u00e8tes. La premi\u00e8re voix, jou\u00e9e par M. Christopher, est plac\u00e9e \u00e0 droite dans l\u2019image st\u00e9r\u00e9o; la seconde, \u00e0 gauche. Avec un casque d\u2019\u00e9coute ou une bonne cha\u00eene de son, on distingue donc parfaitement le jeu de chacun.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019album complet pr\u00e9sente deux opus en plusieurs mouvements du m\u00eame compositeur, avec la m\u00eame instrumentation et dans le m\u00eame style. On r\u00e9ussit presque \u00e0 oublier la redondance de ces soixante-cinq minutes lorsqu\u2019on s\u2019attarde \u00e0 l\u2019ex\u00e9cution quasi sans faille des deux musiciens. Tout y est\u00a0: technique, justesse, coh\u00e9sion.
