Concertos for Percussion<br \/>\n<\/strong>Evelyn Glennie<br \/>\nOrchestre de chambre du Manitoba<br \/>\nAnne Manson, chef d\u2019orchestre<br \/>\nMCO 017002<br \/>\n48 min 45 s<\/p>\n<p>Voici un heureux m\u00e9lange de musique baroque et contemporaine. Seul fil conducteur\u00a0: dame Evelyn Glennie, ses percussions et l\u2019Orchestre de chambre du Manitoba. L\u2019agencement singulier de transcriptions et de pi\u00e8ces originales met en valeur les instruments de percussion m\u00e9lodiques.<\/p>\n<p>La premi\u00e8re \u0153uvre, le <em>Concerto pour piccolo en do majeur<\/em> de Vivaldi, est un arrangement pour vibraphone de Glennie elle-m\u00eame. Les mouvements rapides sont efficaces et virtuoses alors que le <em>Largo<\/em> \u00e9meut et fait contraste. Les nuances, limit\u00e9es \u00e0 cause des instruments \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque baroque, abondent dans la version de Glennie.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mirage?<\/em>, du fascinant Christos Hatzis, est \u00e9crite pour orchestre \u00e0 cordes, vibraphone et \u00ab\u00a0yunluo\u00a0\u00bb (gongs chinois). La pi\u00e8ce d\u00e9peint l\u2019avarice, l\u2019opportunisme et l\u2019abondance pr\u00e9c\u00e9dant la crise \u00e9conomique de 2008. Les sonorit\u00e9s jazz font r\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux Ann\u00e9es folles alors que les gongs accord\u00e9s montrent une influence asiatique. Une atmosph\u00e8re de d\u00e9sespoir et de malaise plane.<\/p>\n<p>La <em>Sonate pour violon en r\u00e9 mineur<\/em> \u00ab\u00a0La Follia\u00a0\u00bb de Corelli est transcrite pour marimba et cordes par Karl Jenkins. La pi\u00e8ce, aussi tr\u00e8s virtuose, est moins haletante que le Vivaldi. Glennie est \u00e0 quelques accrocs pr\u00e8s d\u2019une prestation sans faille. Le son du marimba de cinq octaves est riche, surtout dans les graves.<\/p>\n<p><em>Kaluzua Klein<\/em>, de Michael Oesterle, est la moins facile d\u2019approche des deux \u0153uvres contemporaines. Elle tient son titre des noms de deux math\u00e9maticiens. Elle illustre le partenariat des deux hommes par les \u00e9changes entre le vibraphone et les cordes.<\/p>\n<p>Cet enregistrement doit \u00eatre \u00e9cout\u00e9 avec une bonne cha\u00eene de son pour percevoir la vaste palette de nuances d\u2019Evelyn Glennie.
