Elizabeth Loewen Andrews, violon; Michelle Odorico, violon; Anthony Rapoport, alto; Laura Jones, violoncelle<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Pipistrelle Music, PIP 1216, 71 min 22 s.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Inner Lanscapes<\/em> montre \u00e0 quel point le Windermere String Quartet a \u00e9volu\u00e9 depuis ses d\u00e9buts en 2012 avec <em>The Golden Age of String Quartets<\/em>, un disque d\u2019\u0153uvres des grands ma\u00eetres classiques, Haydn, Mozart et Beethoven. Le nouvel album comprend une commande au compositeur canadien Robert Rival, <em>Traces of a Silent Landscape<\/em>, qui s\u2019inspire des quatuors de Beethoven et Mendelssohn \u00e9galement au programme. Le quatuor joue sur des instruments anciens de la p\u00e9riode classique, d\u2019un ton plus l\u00e9ger, sans doute, mais non moins capables d\u2019expression.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019album s\u2019ouvre en territoire familier avec le <em>Quatuor no 11 en fa mineur<\/em> op. 95 de Beethoven. C\u2019est le seul quatuor auquel il a donn\u00e9 un nom, \u00ab\u00a0Quartetto Serioso\u00a0\u00bb. Le Windermere est en grande forme ici, offrant une vision dramatique claire et un encha\u00eenement habile des gestes qui forment chaque mouvement. Inspir\u00e9 par les randonn\u00e9es en raquettes dans le parc Algonquin, <em>Traces of a Silent Landscape<\/em> en quatre mouvements de Rival commence dans une texture fugu\u00e9e mesur\u00e9e \u2013 plus \u00e9vocatrice des fugues des romantiques que de Bach (les quatuors de Beethoven et de Mendelssohn comptent eux aussi des mouvements fugu\u00e9s lents) \u2013 menant \u00e0 une longue apoth\u00e9ose. Chaque mouvement explore un aspect de la tranquillit\u00e9 hivernale dans la nature. C\u2019est bien \u00e9crit et certainement digne d\u2019\u00eatre entendu. Le <em>Quatuor en la mineur<\/em> op. 13 de Mendelssohn, comme beaucoup de ses \u0153uvres, est fortement influenc\u00e9 par Beethoven. Ici, l\u2019<em>Adagio<\/em> ressort par son traitement subtil des couleurs et des textures.<\/p>\n<p>Si tout est acceptable dans ce disque, et les beaux moments ne manquent certes pas, quelques petites choses lui valent trois \u00e9toiles et non quatre. Plus particuli\u00e8rement, le produit final aurait pu \u00eatre plus soign\u00e9, avec des attaques plus nettes et une intonation plus immacul\u00e9e.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inner Landscapes Windermere String Quartet.
