L\u2019enregistrement s\u2019articule autour d\u2019un romantisme complice des compositeurs, qui se connaissaient tous trois et qui se sont d\u00e9di\u00e9s mutuellement les \u0153uvres interpr\u00e9t\u00e9es ici. La <em>Sonate<\/em> de Liszt, d\u00e9di\u00e9e \u00e0 Schumann, o\u00f9 intervient l\u2019ombre de l\u2019histoire Faustienne, est expos\u00e9e dans toute sa grandeur avec ses passages sombres et angoissants et d\u2019autres plus lumineux et lyriques. Avec son jeu clair et puissant mais cependant toujours en rondeur, le pianiste nous livre une lecture tr\u00e8s personnelle et r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 nous toucher profond\u00e9ment. Avec les <em>Kreisleriana<\/em> de Schumann, qui sont d\u00e9dicac\u00e9es \u00e0 Chopin, Angelich nous emm\u00e8ne dans la folie int\u00e9rieure du compositeur en m\u00ealant moments intimes et sursauts d\u2019\u00e9garements dans des phrases qui s\u2019\u00e9tendent dans une sensibilit\u00e9 infinie mais sans jamais nous perdre. \u00ab\u00a0<em>Musique bizarre, musique folle, voire solennelle<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb dira Schumann \u00e0 sa femme Clara \u00e0 propos de ces pi\u00e8ces. \u00ab\u00a0<em>D&#8217;ailleurs, il m&#8217;arrive maintes fois en ce moment de me sentir \u00e9clater \u00e0 force de musique [\u2026]. Dans certaines parties, il y a un amour vraiment sauvage, et ta vie et la mienne et beaucoup de tes regards<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb. Ce sont tous ces conflits int\u00e9rieurs que l\u2019on peut retrouver dans cette partition que Nicholas Angelich nous transmet avec une limpidit\u00e9 exemplaire. L\u2019enregistrement s\u2019ach\u00e8ve sur deux <em>\u00e9tudes<\/em> de Chopin, tir\u00e9es des <em>\u00e9tudes op. 10<\/em>, d\u00e9di\u00e9es \u00e0 Liszt. Ici, c\u2019est le romantisme int\u00e9rieur qui est mis en avant, particuli\u00e8rement dans l\u2019\u00e9tude n\u00b010 o\u00f9 il est question avant tout de d\u00e9licatesse et de lyrisme. Le disque se termine avec l\u2019\u00e9tude n\u00b012, dite \u00ab\u00a0<em>R\u00e9volutionnaire\u00a0<\/em>\u00bb, pi\u00e8ce temp\u00e9tueuse o\u00f9 Nicholas Angelich peut laisser \u00e9clater toute sa fougue.
