ONYX4159. 68 min 56 s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est un disque riche, lumineux et un programme original que nous offrent James Ehnes et Andrew Armstrong. En osmose du d\u00e9but \u00e0 la fin, les musiciens nous transportent dans les diff\u00e9rentes atmosph\u00e8res des \u0153uvres avec un ton particuli\u00e8rement juste. Le choix d\u2019assembler ces quatre compositeurs et notamment ces trois sonates appara\u00eet judicieux puisqu\u2019il fait d\u00e9couvrir des \u0153uvres moins connues, mais non moins int\u00e9ressantes. Avec la sonate de Debussy, l\u2019une des derni\u00e8res \u0153uvres du compositeur, nous retrouvons ses multiples couleurs et \u00e9clairages ainsi que sa sensibilit\u00e9 d\u00e9licate. L\u2019ombre de la mort plane cependant et les artistes l\u2019ont bien compris. Peu connue, la sonate op.\u00a082 d\u2019Elgar n\u2019en est pas moins un petit bijou. Nous sommes transport\u00e9s dans un monde romantique \u00e0 la fois fougueux et intense, mais aussi chantant. La magnifique sonate de Respighi op.\u00a0110 subit ensuite une lecture tr\u00e8s lyrique et sensible. Parfois tourment\u00e9e et sinueuse, elle prend ici une apparence beaucoup plus claire. Concluant l\u2019album, la berceuse de Sibelius d\u2019un style tr\u00e8s improvis\u00e9 nous m\u00e8ne dans une douce m\u00e9lancolie tout \u00e0-propos, puisque c\u2019est ce sentiment qui unifie le tout.
