Tous deux travaillent \u00e0 une musique r\u00e9solument tonale, avec un certain go\u00fbt pour les emprunts stylistiques non classiques. La pi\u00e8ce de Jennifer Higdon, <i>On a Wire<\/i>, est un concerto grosso con\u00e7u pour le sextuor eighth blackbird. D&#8217;un seul mouvement, la pi\u00e8ce se d\u00e9veloppe au fil de nombreuses sections o\u00f9 l&#8217;ensemble de chambre dialogue avec l&#8217;orchestre. Si on peut admirer l&#8217;agilit\u00e9 dont fait preuve la compositrice, il faut cependant admettre que l&#8217;\u0153uvre semble plus anecdotique qu&#8217;essentielle. L&#8217;\u0153uvre chorale de Michael Gandolfi \u00e9voque quant \u00e0 elle l&#8217;univers du physicien Richard Feynman \u00e0 travers des textes d&#8217;auteurs classiques am\u00e9ricains (Gertrude Stein, Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman, etc.). Si le projet artistique reste confus (l&#8217;esprit de Feynman semble loin de Stein et Dickinson), la musique demeure charmante. Il faut avouer que l&#8217;on craque facilement pour le rythme un peu <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">funky<\/i> du deuxi\u00e8me mouvement.
