Cette qu\u00eate de v\u00e9rit\u00e9 l\u2019a men\u00e9e des neurosciences cognitives \u00e0 l\u2019orthophonie, un champ encore pionnier au Qu\u00e9bec lorsqu&#8217;il est appliqu\u00e9 \u00e0 la voix chant\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<h4>La po\u00e9sie des muscles<\/h4>\n<p>Pour Martel, comprendre l\u2019anatomie n&#8217;a pas tu\u00e9 la magie, elle l&#8217;a lib\u00e9r\u00e9e. \u00ab La production vocale, c\u2019est juste des muscles. Tout ce qui est musculaire se travaille \u00bb, explique-t-elle. Ce regard scientifique a agi comme un baume sur son rapport \u00e9motionnel \u00e0 la sc\u00e8ne. Fini le temps o\u00f9 une contre-performance \u00e9tait v\u00e9cue comme une faille identitaire. \u00ab Avant, quand [mon ex\u00e9cution]ne fonctionnait pas, je le prenais personnel[lement]. J\u2019avais l\u2019impression que c\u2019\u00e9tait moi qui \u00e9tais cass\u00e9e \u00bb, dit-elle.<\/p>\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, la chanteuse peut analyser ce qui se passe dans son instrument et ajuster sa technique. Cette approche pragmatique influe d\u00e9sormais sur tout son travail p\u00e9dagogique : elle enseigne le chant en apprenant \u00e0 ses \u00e9l\u00e8ves \u00e0 relier leurs sensations vocales les plus fines \u00e0 des ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes physiologiques concrets.<\/p>\n<h4>L&#8217;\u00e9quilibre entre deux mondes<\/h4>\n<p>\u00c0 29 ans, Martel refuse de choisir entre la clinique et la sc\u00e8ne. Ayant une quinzaine de concerts au calendrier cette ann\u00e9e, elle m\u00e8ne de front sa carri\u00e8re de soliste et sa pratique priv\u00e9e \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al. Son quotidien est une valse entre les partitions et les diagnostics. Que ce soit pour accompagner des chanteurs lyriques en qu\u00eate d\u2019am\u00e9lioration ou des professionnels de la voix aux cordes vocales \u00e9prouv\u00e9es par les tourn\u00e9es, elle s&#8217;efforce de traduire leurs sensations en explications concr\u00e8tes. Au Qu\u00e9bec, o\u00f9 l&#8217;orthophonie vocale reste une niche tr\u00e8s sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e, son parcours hybride est devenu sa signature. Elle prouve, une note \u00e0 la fois, que la science n&#8217;est pas l&#8217;ennemie de l&#8217;interpr\u00e9tation ou de la sensibilit\u00e9, mais bien son alli\u00e9e la plus solide.<\/p>\n<p>Son parcours s\u2019est r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 une force. \u00ab Pendant longtemps, on m\u2019a dit que je me promenais beaucoup entre les disciplines.
