Le contrebassiste se place ici au carrefour entre les cultures persanes et occidentales, d\u2019une part, et entre la cr\u00e9ation et le folklore, d\u2019autre part. En compagnie de Brigitte Poulin au piano, il donne vie \u00e0 des \u0153uvres nouvelles dont la plupart ont \u00e9t\u00e9 sp\u00e9cialement command\u00e9es pour ce projet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les compositeurs de ces musiques, fruits d\u2019un fascinant m\u00e9tissage culturel, sont tous iraniens ou originaires d\u2019Iran. Parmi eux, Behnoosh Behnamnia est aussi un joueur de kamancheh, instrument \u00e0 cordes frott\u00e9es. Avec Bamdad Fotouhi au tombak, il figure sur l\u2019album en tant qu\u2019interpr\u00e8te et offre plusieurs \u00e9pisodes s\u00e9duisants de musique folklorique persane, en alternance avec les pi\u00e8ces pour contrebasse et piano. L\u2019\u0153uvre en trois mouvements d\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/amir-eslami.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amir Eslami<\/a>, qui inaugure <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sayeh Roshan<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, joue m\u00eame sur l\u2019ambigu\u00eft\u00e9 entre instruments traditionnels et occidentaux, notamment gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des effets sonores qui servent d\u2019imitation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ce qui frappe, ce sont d\u2019abord les textures vibrantes et les riches harmoniques merveilleusement rendues par la captation en studio. Les couleurs du piano se diffusent lentement \u00e0 mesure que les notes sont tenues tandis que Yazdanfar explore lui-m\u00eame la richesse acoustique de son propre instrument par une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de techniques plus ou moins douces. Malgr\u00e9 la virtuosit\u00e9 de la partie de contrebasse, on regrette que le registre soit trop aigu. Il semble qu\u2019un violoncelle, par son timbre naturellement plus brillant, aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 mieux adapt\u00e9 aux circonstances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L\u2019ultime composition de Reza Vali utilise, elle aussi, l\u2019art de l\u2019imitation pour sugg\u00e9rer la voix humaine \u00e0 travers le registre suraigu de la contrebasse. Yazdanfar et Poulin ajoutent aux sonorit\u00e9s de leurs instruments par quelques passages chant\u00e9s, mais ceux-ci s\u2019av\u00e8rent trop fragiles, tant au chapitre de la captation que du chant lui-m\u00eame. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019une exp\u00e9rience auditive pour le moins singuli\u00e8re.
