Cette violoniste prodigieuse m&#8217;a montr\u00e9 trois actes de naissance diff\u00e9rents, mais tous indiquaient la date du 15 d\u00e9cembre, et nous pensons qu&#8217;elle aurait eu 100 ans l&#8217;ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re. Personne aujourd&#8217;hui ne joue comme elle.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9lev\u00e9e \u00e0 Varsovie, Ida a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 \u00e0 Londres avant de s&#8217;installer \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al et \u00e0 Miami. Parmi ses coll\u00e8gues violonistes, elle v\u00e9n\u00e9rait Jascha Heifetz et reprenait ses concertos signatures \u2013 Sibelius et Walton \u2013, mais avec des interpr\u00e9tations tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rentes. Heifetz avait sorti le concerto de Sibelius de trois d\u00e9cennies d&#8217;oubli, mais c&#8217;est Ida qui l&#8217;a humanis\u00e9. Sa prestation de fin 1981 au Royal Albert Hall, sous la direction de Paavo Berglund, est hors norme, une brise estivale soufflant sur un paysage g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement per\u00e7u comme glacial. Incontestablement du grand Sibelius.<\/p>\n<p>Le r\u00e9cit du concerto d&#8217;Elgar avec sir Adrian Boult nous rappelle que cette \u0153uvre est contemporaine de celle de Sibelius, bien qu&#8217;elle soit tourn\u00e9e vers le pass\u00e9 alors que le Finlandais regardait r\u00e9solument vers l&#8217;avenir. Le Brahms d&#8217;Ida, dirig\u00e9 par Gennady Rozhdestvensky, est l&#8217;incarnation m\u00eame de la s\u00e9r\u00e9nit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Le morceau phare de cet album est le concerto de Britten, cr\u00e9\u00e9 \u00e0 New York en 1940 alors que le compositeur \u00e9tait encore impr\u00e9gn\u00e9 du pays qu&#8217;il venait de quitter. Ida donne toute sa dimension \u00e0 ce concerto m\u00e9connu, y ajoutant une touche \u00e9motionnelle qui captive notre attention, en particulier dans la Passacaglia finale. Andrew Davis, qui nous manque beaucoup, dirige avec brio.
