Mahler \u00e9tait pay\u00e9 pour diriger 120 soir\u00e9es \u00e0 l&#8217;op\u00e9ra sans avoir son mot \u00e0 dire sur la direction artistique. Foerster, dont l&#8217;\u00e9pouse Berta Foersterov\u00e1 \u00e9tait la soprano vedette de Mahler, trouva du travail comme critique musical tout en composant des partitions orchestrales qui ne furent jamais jou\u00e9es. Mahler trouva des amis pour financer la premi\u00e8re repr\u00e9sentation de sa seconde symphonie \u00e0 Berlin. Celle de Foerster ne fut jamais jou\u00e9e. Lorsque Mahler devint directeur de l&#8217;Op\u00e9ra de Vienne en 1897, il fit venir Berta pour qu&#8217;elle rejoigne sa distribution prestigieuse et aida Foerster \u00e0 trouver un emploi dans la presse.<\/p>\n<p>La <i>Symphonie n\u00ba 2<\/i> de Foerster est exactement contemporaine de celle de Mahler et inspir\u00e9e par des motifs similaires. La s\u0153ur de Foerster, Marie, \u00e9tait d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9e, tout comme la s\u0153ur de Mahler, Poldi. Tous deux \u00e9taient en proie \u00e0 des questionnements (comme le r\u00e9v\u00e8lent leurs \u00e9changes) sur le sens de la vie. Mais l\u00e0 o\u00f9 Mahler s&#8217;est d\u00e9cha\u00een\u00e9 dans sa symphonie \u00ab R\u00e9surrection \u00bb avec ch\u0153ur, solistes, orchestres hors-sc\u00e8ne et cloche massive, Foerster s&#8217;en est tenu \u00e0 la dynamique modeste d&#8217;une symphonie de <span class=\"kY2IgmnCmOGjharHErah\">Dvo\u0159\u00e1k<\/span> pour produire une \u0153uvre empreinte de retenue \u00e9motionnelle et dans laquelle le mouvement lent est le plus sombre et le plus efficace.<\/p>\n<p>Cet enregistrement rare est magnifiquement interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 par l&#8217;<span class=\"kY2IgmnCmOGjharHErah\">Orchestre philharmonique de Hradec Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9 <\/span>sous la direction de <span class=\"ZNx93QP1XNrBdT5MI6SY\"><span class=\"expandableItem\">Marek \u0160tilec<\/span><\/span>. D&#8217;une courtoisie sans faille, la symphonie en fa majeur pr\u00e9sente Foerster comme un compositeur talentueux, \u00e0 qui ne manque que le g\u00e9nie ou le talent de plagiaire. Il n&#8217;y a pas de Mahler dans cette musique.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;\u0153uvre qui accompagne l&#8217;album, une musique de com\u00e9die th\u00e9\u00e2trale, fut la plus populaire de Foerster. Il surv\u00e9cut \u00e0 Mahler, \u00e0 Berta et \u00e0 leur \u00e9poque, pour s&#8217;\u00e9teindre sous le communisme en 1951.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Traduction : A.
