Le concert que l\u2019Orchestre symphonique de Sherbrooke (OSS) pr\u00e9sentera le 23\u00a0novembre prochain en procure un parfait exemple\u00a0: deux \u0153uvres compos\u00e9es au 21e\u00a0si\u00e8cle s\u2019inspirant de mod\u00e8les baroque et gr\u00e9gorien, pr\u00f4nant une approche postmoderne qui inclut le post-minimalisme, la techno, le th\u00e9\u00e2tre musical, le rap et la chanson.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019OSS jouera d\u2019abord<em> Recomposed: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons<\/em> par le compositeur britannique Max Richter. Cr\u00e9\u00e9e \u00e0 Londres en 2012, cette r\u00e9vision post-minimaliste des <em>Quatre Saisons<\/em> de Vivaldi conna\u00eet un succ\u00e8s commercial imm\u00e9diat\u00a0: propuls\u00e9e au sommet des listes d\u2019\u00e9coute de musique classique de iTunes, l\u2019\u0153uvre est reprise dans des s\u00e9ries t\u00e9l\u00e9vis\u00e9es, dont <em>The Crown <\/em>ou <em>Bridgerton<\/em>, et des d\u00e9fil\u00e9s de mode. Photo : Dominick M\u00e9nard<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Comme contrepoids \u00e0 cet exercice m\u00e9tastylistique, l\u2019OSS pr\u00e9sente ensuite le <em>Requiem <\/em>de Fran\u00e7ois Dompierre. Cr\u00e9\u00e9e en 2024, l\u2019\u0153uvre insuffle un vent nouveau \u00e0 une des formes les plus conservatrices, la messe des morts dans la tradition de l\u2019\u00c9glise catholique romaine. Les 12\u00a0 textes du <em>Requiem <\/em>comptent le <em>Dies Irae<\/em>, le <em>Sanctus<\/em>, l\u2019<em>Agnus Dei<\/em> et d\u2019autres immortalis\u00e9s \u00e0 travers les chefs-d\u2019\u0153uvre de Mozart, Verdi et Faur\u00e9. Fid\u00e8le \u00e0 lui-m\u00eame, Dompierre emprunte des sonorit\u00e9s au th\u00e9\u00e2tre musical, \u00e0 la musique pop, au rap, \u00e0 la musique classique, \u00e0 la chanson francophone et \u2013 avant tout \u2013 \u00e0 son pass\u00e9 d\u2019organiste.<\/p>\n<p>Ayant chant\u00e9 et accompagn\u00e9 la liturgie catholique pendant son adolescence, le compositeur a aussi suivi une formation classique. \u00ab\u00a0J\u2019ai \u00e9tudi\u00e9 la musique au Conservatoire \u00e0 deux reprises, notamment avec Gilles Tremblay. \u00c0 21\u00a0ans, je faisais de la musique s\u00e9rielle dans l\u2019esprit de Boulez et de Stockhausen. M\u00eame si j\u2019ai fait beaucoup de musique populaire, de chansons et de musiques de film, l\u2019id\u00e9e d\u2019\u00e9crire de la musique de concert m\u2019est rest\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb, dit celui qui a collabor\u00e9 avec F\u00e9lix Leclerc, Pauline Julien, Michel Tremblay, Denys Arcand et bien d\u2019autres.<\/p>\n<p>Le <em>Requiem<\/em> de Dompierre est d\u2019une inspiration hybride entre la musique classique de son enfance et la musique populaire qu\u2019il a compos\u00e9e toute sa vie. \u00ab\u00a0C\u2019est mon point de vue sur les chants du Requiem \u2013 c\u2019est tr\u00e8s visuel. Mais je termine de fa\u00e7on optimiste\u00a0: le <em>In Paradisum<\/em> est un dernier adieu, dans l\u2019espoir qu\u2019il va se passer de belles choses apr\u00e8s la mort.
