Pendant des si\u00e8cles, de riches m\u00e9c\u00e8nes ont soutenu les artistes et leur ont fourni des lieux pour exposer leurs \u0153uvres. Au 15e si\u00e8cle, Laurent de M\u00e9dicis \u00e9tait un m\u00e9c\u00e8ne de l\u2019art de la Renaissance, soutenant L\u00e9onard de Vinci, Michel-Ange et d\u2019autres artistes de renom. Au 19e si\u00e8cle, Andrew Carnegie, magnat de l\u2019acier, a financ\u00e9 des biblioth\u00e8ques et des institutions et a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le d\u00e9terminant dans la cr\u00e9ation du Carnegie Hall, un lieu embl\u00e9matique de la musique classique \u00e0 New York.<\/p>\r\n<p>En 2013, le Groupe de travail sur la philanthropie culturelle pr\u00e9sid\u00e9 par Pierre Bourgie a amen\u00e9 le gouvernement du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 apporter des changements \u00e0 la philanthropie culturelle, notamment en renouvelant le programme d&#8217;appariement M\u00e9c\u00e9nat Placements Culture pour les fonds de dotation et en introduisant un cr\u00e9dit d\u2019imp\u00f4t suppl\u00e9mentaire pour les dons culturels ponctuels importants (entre 5\u00a0000 et 25\u00a0000 dollars).<\/p>\r\n<p>M\u00e9c\u00e9nat Musica a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque par des philanthropes afin d\u2019aider les donateurs et leurs organisations \u00e0 s\u2019adapter efficacement \u00e0 ces nouveaux changements. \u00c0 ce jour, M\u00e9c\u00e9nat Musica a aid\u00e9 plus de 50 organisations \u00e0 renforcer leur s\u00e9curit\u00e9 financi\u00e8re gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son programme d&#8217;appariement de dotations et a collect\u00e9 111 millions de dollars de capital permanent. Ce capital permanent g\u00e9n\u00e8re 5,5 millions de dollars de distributions annuelles qui soutiennent plus de 5\u00a0000 artistes.
