L\u2019artiste \u00e9voque aussi l\u2019histoire de l\u2019instrument qui avait notamment appartenu \u00e0 son mentor Andrew Dawes et dont il a h\u00e9rit\u00e9 : le violon \u00ab Dawes, de Long Tearse \u00bb du luthier Guadagnini (1770). C\u2019est ainsi que l\u2019on retrouve, parmi les \u0153uvres du grand r\u00e9pertoire, une pi\u00e8ce de Murray Adaskin sp\u00e9cialement compos\u00e9e pour M. Dawes. De plus, Robert Uchida et son partenaire <a href=\"https:\/\/philipchiu.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philip Chiu<\/a> au piano ont pris soin de s\u00e9lectionner des \u0153uvres qui ont un lien plus ou moins \u00e9loign\u00e9, malgr\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9poque ou l\u2019origine qui parfois les s\u00e9parent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L&#8217;album s&#8217;ouvre sur de la musique de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pulcinella <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dans un arrangement pour violon et piano qui met bien en \u00e9vidence la d\u00e9marche anachronique de Stravinski. D\u2019inspiration baroque, cette <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suite italienne <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">passe d\u2019une \u00e9criture flamboyante \u00e0 une rondeur plus temp\u00e9r\u00e9e \u2013 plus sombre aussi \u2013 puis \u00e0 une \u00e9nergie d\u00e9bordante avant de retrouver un style brod\u00e9, digne des danses royales. Les deux derniers morceaux nous font avancer d\u2019au moins un si\u00e8cle en reprenant des codes de composition tr\u00e8s romantiques.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L\u2019\u0153uvre effectue des \u00e9carts stylistiques qui, \u00e0 eux seuls, illustrent l\u2019\u00e9clectisme des musiciens. De Stravinski, on passe directement \u00e0 Jean-Papineau-Couture, lui-m\u00eame inspir\u00e9 par l\u2019approche fauviste du compositeur dans le <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sacre du printemps<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L\u2019ex\u00e9cution des <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">12 Fantaisies pour violon seul <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">de Telemann d\u00e9montre \u2013 de mani\u00e8re plus \u00e9vidente encore que pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment \u2013 la relative f\u00e9brilit\u00e9 de M. Uchida dans le registre baroque. On s\u2019\u00e9tonne que ces morceaux ne soient pas jou\u00e9s avec la m\u00eame ferveur que les \u0153uvres contemporaines. La <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Partita n<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 3 <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">de Bach est certes tr\u00e8s allante, mais le rendu des notes manque de finesse et la r\u00e9gularit\u00e9 du rythme n\u2019est pas irr\u00e9prochable.
